The shows will take place mainly in London’s leading intimate venues, including Lafayette and Barbican, showcasing a diverse musical landscape from established masters to emerging avant-garde artists.

Crossing Genres and Styles: The series continues Serious’s distinctive approach, looking beyond traditional jazz to explore the intersections of jazz with electronic and folk music.

Featured Artists and Projects：

May: A focus on leading voices in contemporary European jazz, including emerging groups from Scandinavia and the UK.

June: A program featuring major solo performances and experimental cross-genre collaborations.

July: The series reaches its high point with a lively, celebratory summer atmosphere and major shows that may serve as a warm-up for the EFG London Jazz Festival in November.

Artistic Mission: “Discovery” is at the heart of the series. The music heard here may well become a defining sound at European festivals over the next few years.

Venue Chemistry: Compared with large outdoor festivals, the indoor rooms selected for the summer series place greater emphasis on acoustic clarity. In these spaces, the breath in an improvisation and the smallest overtones of an instrument become more audible. That close-up intensity is one of jazz’s greatest charms.

The Curatorial Logic: From May through July, the series follows a progression from the “intellectual” toward the “physical.” Early shows may lean toward deep experimental exploration; as summer advances, the rhythmic weight and emotional intensity grow.

Key Takeaway: Serious’s 2026 Summer Jazz Series is a must-hear part of London’s summer.
