Eurasian Quartet
The Eurasian Quartet brings together musicians from the Netherlands, Germany and Taiwan. Their boundary-free free music is shaped by concentrated live energy and sudden bursts of invention; every detail is best experienced in person. One night only—don’t miss it.
The lineup features overtone vocalist Mark van Tongeren; Luc Houtkamp, recipient of the Dutch Jazz and Improvised Music Award and Musician of the Year; percussionist Pablo Liebhaber; and pianist Shih-Yang Lee.

▪︎Mark van Tongeren
A passionate explorer of the voice, van Tongeren combines art, technology and online techniques in his work. With keen ears, a versatile voice and original insight, he guides people in exploring the possibilities of their own voices. A trained ethnomusicologist, he incorporates yoga movements into his teaching, helping students feel and understand the theory behind overtones and throat singing. He holds a PhD from Leiden University in the Netherlands and has performed with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. He has also collaborated with Taiwanese choreographer Yeh Ming-hua, HORSE Dance Theatre and Kuan-Huan Dance Theatre.
In 2016, he was invited to give a talk and demonstration at TEDxTaipei. He has supported Taiwan’s National Center for Traditional Arts and curated programs for Tyva Kyzy, the Republic of Tuva’s Sounds of the Steppe and other Asia-Pacific traditional-arts festivals.

▪︎Luc Houtkamp
Born in The Hague in 1953, Houtkamp is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and electronic-music specialist. He works to connect different musical fields, creating continuity between improvisation and composition until the boundary between them dissolves.
In 2002, he founded POW Ensemble, a flexible group of musicians with backgrounds in jazz, rock, electronic and contemporary music. He has also written for Amstel Quartet, David Kweksilber Big Band and recorder player Erik Bosgraaf. In 2005, he received the Boy Edgar Prize, the Netherlands’ most prestigious award for jazz and improvised music. After moving to Malta in 2014, he served as artistic director of the Electronic Music Malta association (EMM).

Pablo Liebhaber
A drummer, percussionist, performer and educator from Germany, Liebhaber moved to Taiwan in 2024. He holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz drums from the University of Music Würzburg and a master’s in improvisation from Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. His principal teachers include Bill Elgart, Bastian Jütte, Nadia Kevan and Thomas Rückert. He has also attended masterclasses with Gerald Cleaver, Bob Moses, Gerry Hemingway, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Joe Lovano, Billy Drummond and Leon Parker to broaden his musical outlook.
He often collaborates across dance, theater and visual art. His musical and artistic explorations are shaped by the close relationship between movement and sound, the conscious use of the Alexander Technique, and an intuitive sense that everything is vibration.
His recordings include Tales (Leo Records, 2021), Patchlight, Movement and Intermission. His flexible percussion style spans experimental improvisation, jazz, world music and funk.
