[Reporter Chang Hsiang-ying] Romantic jazz fills a century-old paper mill, opening up one of early summer’s most beautiful musical scenes. Following last year’s enthusiastic reception, this year’s Jinghao Life Music Festival returns to Yilan’s Chung Hsing Cultural and Creative Park on May 16 and 17, 2026, with the theme “Just Jazz.” The program features a powerful lineup, including Golden Melody Award-winning singer Joanna Wang, alongside cocktails and lifestyle experiences. Best of all, admission is completely free—making it an early-summer event not to miss.

From Golden Melody Award winner Joanna Wang to jazz legend Bobby Chen

The festival spans generations, bringing together a number of influential musicians. Golden Melody Award-winning singer Joanna Wang will close the program on May 17 with her graceful, captivating voice. Also performing are a jazz ensemble led by Asian pop-music legend Bobby Chen, Taiwanese jazz-drum master Huang Jui-feng, and veteran group Di-Xi Jazz Band, with more than 40 years of history. From classic New Orleans sounds to modern cross-genre explorations, the music brings jazz’s pure energy and depth naturally into everyday life.

Immersive Jazz Dining and a signature cocktail

Beyond the music, the festival creates an immersive “Jazz Dining” experience. Taiwanese bartending pioneer Wang Ling-an has been invited to design original cocktails inspired by jazz. Visitors can sip a drink as they wander through the historic industrial site, taking in the flavors and atmosphere and experiencing the distinctive rhythms and aesthetics of jazz culture. Music, cocktails, and a gentle breeze come together in Yilan’s own relaxed tempo.

A Tribute to Women in Jazz: Gentle and Unwavering

The program also features “Women’s Compositions,” an all-women ensemble led by saxophonist Lin Ying-chen, performing works by women composers. More than a concert, it is a tribute to women jazz artists around the world. Through subtle improvisational dialogue, the performance brings to life the gentle yet steadfast stories of women in jazz history. Whether you want to tap along with a New Orleans parade or immerse yourself in classic post-bop, the festival offers something for every jazz listener.
